A Hop and a Skip

Odd day. Due to all the changes with our plans we are stuck with a booking we cannot cancel but needing to cover 40km, too far.

So decided to walk from Hornillos del Camino to halfway then a taxi to Boadillo del Camino.

The walk was very nice through the low rolling hills. Day started cold (13°) with beautiful sunrise. As it got warmer we walked between dry fields of harvested corn. Occasionally a wild hamster would run over the path.

Arriving in Castrojeriz (nice town) it was getting hot; next find the taxi. Three people pointed us to the same building but no taxi to be seen. Just then he arrived! As the temperature was now close to 40° we greated him like the returning king. 15 minutes later we are checking into a very chic hotel gasping for food and wine. Without a second to waste our bags hit the floor in a cloud of dust. The aulbergue next door served wonderful homemade soup and chilled local wine. Heaven.
